Events & Meetings with Stakeholders

• Dialogue with ANPC: On Feb 23 the AmCham Trade Legislation TF had a meeting with Horia Constantinescu, President, National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) and on March 14, AmCham Romania, together with Concordia and FIC, organized an in-person event with Horia Constantinescu, President, National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) and Paul Anghel, General Director, ANPC, on Monday, March 14, 2022.

A wide range of subjects were discussed during the exchange with the Authority, including the status of Ecommerce, the border checks on imports from third countries, and pre-EU accession laws that are currently outdated.For details, please contact Mihai Popa, AmCham Trade Legislation TF Coordinator.  

 Advocacy Initiatives (position papers, public consultations)

• March 14: The AmCham Education Task Force is setting up a dedicated working group on the new Education Law. The aim of this working group is to proactively prepare AmCham’s recommendations and proposals for the new Education Law, which needs to be adopted by 2023 under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. All members interested to join this working group are invited to email Manuel Cazac, Task Force Coordinator, at mcazac@amcham.ro.

• March 10: AmCham Romania, The Foreign Investors Council and Concordia Employers’ Confederation joined forces to facilitate the fast integration of people fleeing the war in Ukraine on the Romanian job market. The proposed measures will help the Ukrainian refugees that would like to work in Romania and will provide solutions to the government to timely address the humanitarian crisis. The proposed amendments aim to redesign the refugee’s system for a better traceability and integration from a social and economic point of view (procedures for immigration, obtaining visas and work documentation, temporary tax facilities and exemptions, etc.). • March 15: The AmCham Taxation Committee shared observations/concerns regarding the on EU Directive for Minimum Tax on Multinationals. 

• Mar 7: Energy Committee: AmCham observations regarding the legislative project to approve GEO 143/2022 amending and complementing Energy Law 123/2012  

• March 1: Labor Committee & Corporate Governance Committee: AmCham proposed amendments to the Whistleblower Law Project (Pl-x nr. 573/2021). ​

• Feb 25: Energy Committee: AmCham Technical Feedback on the Draft State-Aid Schemes and Applicants' Guides for Investment Measure I.1. (New Power Generation Capacities from Renewable Energy Sources) in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 

• Feb 23: Energy Committee & Taxation Committee:  Letter regarding the Tax on Additional Income of Renewable Energy Producers, provided by Law 259/202
