Surveys

The AmCham Education Task Force is kindly inviting members of the AmCham community to fill in a survey assessing the availability of skilled workforce on the labor market and future trends related to skills and abilities. The results will be used to inform and substantiate the advocacy initiatives related to education. Please take 5 minutes to fill in the survey and help us identify relevant advocacy priorities for our community.


The AmCham Digital Economy Committee welcomes members’ inputs on the survey on challenges for the IT&C sector and priorities for digital transformation in order to streamline the priorities on digital transformation for the year ahead. The survey will remain open by the end of February and collected data will be aggregated in a subsequent analysis

Events & Meetings with Stakeholders

Feb 15:  Members of the AmCham Romania Tourism Task Force had a fruitful discussion with officials representing Romania in the U.S., focused on strategies to increase incoming tourism from U.S. and on ways to strengthen ties between Romanian and American tour operators. The discussion touched on very practical measures, such as the importance of re-opening a direct flight from Bucharest to New York and of conveying the message that Romania is a safe country to travel to, despite the current diplomatic turmoil with Ukraine.


 Advocacy Initiatives (position papers, public consultations)

Until Feb 25, the World Bank is collecting input from the private sector on the proposed 2022 – 2035 National Strategy for Reducing the Risks of Disasters (available EN / RO). For details, please contact Manuel Cazac (mcazac@amcham.ro).


Feb 21: Given the accelerated process of transposing the National Cancer Plan into a draft law, AmCham’s Working Group on Oncology, under the aegis of AmCham Healthcare Committee, put together a series of documents to reflect members’ input on this topic, and submitted them to all relevant stakeholders: (1) one position paper with general considerations about the implementation of the National Cancer Plan in Romania; (2) a consolidated centralizer of amendments with very technical input on every pathology cancer related. The AmCham recommendations are accompanied by a set of best practices successfully implemented in other developed countries in approaching lung and breast cancer at a national level or setting up “Fast Diagnostic Centres” and “One Stop Shop Medical Centres”.


Feb 15:  The AmCham Environment Committee submitted a contribution to the survey of the Ministry of Environment regarding the procedure for issuing the environmental permit. as a follow-up to previous advocacy efforts on the topic aimed at clarifying the regulatory framework. A technical meeting should be set in the coming period.

Feb 23: The Trade Legislation TF organizes a meeting with the President of the National Protection Consumer Authority in order to discuss the Authority’s priorities and AmCham’s vision on consumer related priorities. Details: Mihai Popa, TF Coordinator.


March 2: Next Generation Debates .7, organized in partnership with Junior Achievement Romania, Part of the #FutureReady initiative, the project promotes education and training of the new generations, to quickly adapt to the future challenges and opportunities. Speakers are provided by the AmCham Capital Markets Committee. Details & registrations here.

Advocacy Initiatives

The AmCham Digital Economy Committee is collecting contributions regarding best practices for digitalization at the level of local public administrations, as a concrete follow-up to previous meetings with stakeholders and the identified need to provide recommendations for successful projects and quick wins for digital transformation at local level.
