Highlights

Feb14: 5th edition of the AmCham - Competition Council Conference: Competition in Public Procurement - Competition Risks and Practical Remedies 

The event brought together the business environment and public authorities in order to discuss on high relevant topics such as: the regime of confidential information - between competition and transparency in public procurement; sensitive competitive aspects when participating in public procurement for large infrastructure projects; proof of similar experience in public procurement contracts - the situation of framework agreement or how to promote fair competition in public auctions.

Recent Initiatives

The AmCham Environment Committee submitted a contribution to the survey of the Ministry of Environment regarding the procedure for issuing the environmental permit. The initiative is a follow-up to previous advocacy efforts on this topic aimed at clarifying the regulatory framework for economic operators when it comes to environmental protection.


The AmCham Education Task Force is conducting a survey among the AmCham community to assess the availability of skilled workforce on the labor market and identify future trends related to skills and abilities. The results of the survey will be analyzed by the task force and used to inform and substantiate the advocacy initiatives related to education. Please take 5 minutes to fill in the survey & help us identify relevant advocacy priorities for our community.


The first session of the Governance Hour took place on the February 10, when Ciprian Lăduncă, Member of the AmCham Romania Board of Directors, Chair of the AmCham Corporate Governance Committee; Dr. Gabriela Hartescu, ENVISIA, CEO; together with the special guest Andrew Kakabadse, Professor of Governance and Leadership at Henley Business School discussed the role of Boards of Directors and Board members’ contribution and impact within companies. Different points were addressed such as the profile of Board members, their impact on the growth of companies, or the way in which Board members are selected.
