FlixBus, the travel-tech global leader in long-distance coach travel, resumes and strengthens its summer network in Southeast Europe, offering passengers more travel options to some of the region’s most popular holiday and city-break destinations. This summer, travelers can choose from more direct routes, increased frequencies and easier access to Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, Greece, Türkiye, Croatia and Germany.
The summer offer is designed for passengers planning seaside holidays, short city breaks, visits to family abroad or longer trips across Europe. In a context where travel costs remain an important factor, FlixBus offers a flexible and affordable alternative to driving or flying, with convenient city-to-city connections and easy online booking.
Increased frequency to the Bulgarian seaside, Athens and Thessaloniki
As of June, FlixBus has made it easier for passengers to reach more destinations across Bulgaria, including through the extension of the line from Varna to Albena. The Bucharest–Burgas route is also operating daily, giving Romanian travelers a more convenient way to reach Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast throughout the summer.
FlixBus is already seeing strong advance bookings for the summer months, especially from Romanian tourists travelling to Varna, Golden Sands, Veliko Tarnovo and Burgas. This confirms growing interest in affordable and easy-to-plan cross-border trips, from seaside holidays to short city breaks close to home.
“We already see strong bookings for the Bulgarian seaside this summer, especially to destinations such as Varna, Golden Sands, Burgas and Albena, as well as growing interest in Veliko Tarnovo for short city breaks. Summer is the season when people want to travel more, visit family, go to the seaside or discover new places. By adding more connections and increasing frequencies, especially in a context of rising fuel prices, we want to make these trips easier, more affordable and more comfortable for passengers,” said Snezhina Koleva, Senior Business Development Manager for FlixBus Bulgaria.
Seasonal routes to Greece resume from June 17, giving passengers more affordable ways to reach popular summer destinations. Travelers will have two daily connections to Athens, including stops in Volos, Larissa and Katerini, while passengers departing from Sofia can choose from three daily departures to Thessaloniki. The line to Kavala also remains available, offering access to northern Greece and its seaside areas.
At the same time, Veliko Tarnovo remains an attractive summer option for travelers looking for a day trip, weekend getaway or cultural city break nearby, especially for passengers travelling from Romania.
Passengers can also find connections from Sofia to Sunny Beach, Obzor and Byala, operated in collaboration with local partners, making it simpler to travel from the city to the coast without the stress of driving or parking.
More connections across Europe
From July 1st, FlixBus is increasing capacity on the Plovdiv–Munich route, which connects passengers to key European destinations such as Zagreb, Salzburg, Graz, Maribor and Munich. The line currently operates five days per week and will become daily, with two departures per day, giving passengers more choice when planning summer trips across Europe. The gradual increase in frequency responds to higher demand from passengers looking for reliable and budget-friendly long-distance travel during the summer season.
FlixBus also continues to connect passengers with important regional destinations such as Istanbul and Skopje. The route connecting Sofia with Istanbul gives travelers from Bulgaria’s Black Sea cities a direct way to reach one of the region’s most visited destinations, while Sofia–Skopje offers another affordable option for trips across the Balkans, especially as flight prices remain high.
FlixBus aims to make summer travel more accessible by combining affordable prices, flexible booking and comfortable onboard services. Tickets can be booked online, through the FlixBus app and via partner agencies. Passengers can also pay more easily online using Revolut Pay, available as a payment option in the FlixBus booking process.
