FlixBus, the global travel-tech company operating Europe’s largest intercity coach network, is launching a new direct connection between Bucharest and Chișinău and entering into its first partnership with a transport operator from the Republic of Moldova.
The new route is operated in partnership with Gal Trans and offers two daily services in each direction. The first journeys took place on 12 September. From Bucharest, coaches depart daily at 10:00 and 23:00, with a journey time of approximately 8 hours.
The route also includes a stop at Henri Coandă International Airport, giving passengers from the Republic of Moldova direct access to both Romania’s main airport and Bucharest. From the Romanian capital, travellers can continue to numerous destinations across Romania and the rest of Europe through the FlixBus network. The Republic of Moldova was already connected to the FlixBus network through international services operated by the company’s transport partners in Ukraine, including connections to Odesa and Kyiv. By launching the new Bucharest–Chișinău route and partnering with a local transport operator, FlixBus is taking another step in developing its network across the region.
Better connections between Romania and the Republic of Moldova
The new route expands mobility options between the two countries, making it easier to travel directly to Bucharest and connect to other destinations.
Through the FlixBus network available from the Republic of Moldova, passengers have access to connections to 12 cities across two countries, including services operated by FlixBus transport partners in Ukraine. The stop at Henri Coandă International Airport also provides a convenient option for passengers continuing their journey by air, offering a direct coach connection between Chișinău and the airport.
FlixBus continues to expand its network in Romania and its regional connections
The connection to Henri Coandă International Airport offers greater flexibility for passengers travelling between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, including those combining coach travel with international flights. At the same time, the new route makes it easier to reach Bucharest and the FlixBus network in Romania, both for domestic journeys and for onward travel to other European destinations.
FlixBus continues to expand its network in Romania, with more new routes launched during the summer season
The launch of the new route to Chișinău follows a summer during which FlixBus significantly expanded its network in Romania, introducing both new domestic connections and new international routes.
Among the destinations added to the domestic network this summer are Băile Herculane, Orșova, Drobeta-Turnu Severin and Reșița. At the same time, Iași was directly connected to Brașov and Timișoara, as well as to Budapest.
On the international network, FlixBus launched the Sibiu–Thessaloniki route, as well as the first direct connections between Romania and Serbia, through the Timișoara–Belgrade and Arad–Belgrade routes.
The new Bucharest–Chișinău route continues this development and expands travel options between Romania and key destinations across the region.
Tickets for FlixBus services can be purchased on the FlixBus website or via the app, through more than 1,000 partner travel agencies, as well as at SelfPay points of sale.
Present in Romania since 2017, FlixBus has continuously expanded its network and currently connects more than 80 cities in Romania with 16 European countries. Since July 2025, the company has also been operating domestic intercity services, connecting more than 80 cities across the country.
