Learn about AmCham Romania's first business mission to the United States!

Between October 20th and 26th, 2024, 9 companies in the Tech, Retail and Medical sector joined AmCham Romania on AmCham's first business delegation to the United States, to discover trade and investment opportunities in Phoenix, Arizona and New York City, New York, two of America's largest economic powerhouses. Delegates had the opportunity to explore new markets, engage with public and Government stakeholders, find valuable partners and learn about trends shaping America's private sector. The delegation also added a touch of cultural exploration to business activities, from the wild landscapes of Arizona to the iconic skyline of New York City.

October 20th, 2025 - Phoenix, AZ

Delegates met on Sunday, October 20th for a day of clutural exploration and local networking. In the morning, they travelled to Sedona, Arizona, where they had a chance to see the breathtaking sights of Arizona's desert and immerse in the native culture. In the evening, delegates joined Ben Toma, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Arizona, for a dinner with the Romanian diaspora in the Phoenix area.

Day 1, October 21st, 2024 - Phoenix, AZ

The delegates started their program in Phoenix with a meeting at the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), where they learned about Arizona's FDI offer and support ecosystem, including for international startups that are ready to expand on the American market. The ACA team was joined by Plug & Play, a U.S. investment fund that also looks at European companies. They then met with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) to deep dive into the opportunities that Phoenix and its wider region offers international businesses that want to enter the U.S. market and to meet with representatives of the local startup ecosystem - HealthImpact VC and StartupAZ, and with startups that call Phoenix home - Freeway and Thirdbrdige. The delegates' next stop on the first day of the mission was Arizona State University (ASU), where they learned about Arizona's International Soft Landing Program managed by the ASU Office of Economic Development. The delegation ended the day at onsemi's global head-quarters in Scottsdale, Arizona with an insightful discussion about Arizona's chip manufacturing prowess.

Day 2, October 22nd, 2024 - Phoenix, AZ

The second day in Phoenix started at the Arizona House of Representatives, where the delegates met with Majority Leader Leo Biasiucci, Rep. Justin Wilmeth - Vice Chairman of the International Trade Committee, Rep. Stacey Travers, and Michael Harper - Chief of Staff and Linsey Goodwin - Senior Policy Advisor to the Arizona House of Representatives. They then traveled to the Thunderbird School of Global Management for a campus tour and a comprehensive discussion about the School's Executive and International programs. Delegates also met Steven G. Zylstra, President & CEO of Arizona Technology Council for B2B talks, and concluded the visit to Phoenix with a business networking reception hosted by the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations. The delegation was attended by Members of the Arizona House of Representatives, business leaders and members of business communities across the Phoenix region.

In the context of AmCham's delegation, Synergy Therm Cosmetics, a Romanian skincare and cosmetics manufacturer officially launched their products on the American market.

Day 3, October 24th, 2024 - New York City, NY

The program in New York City started at Harris Beach Attorneys at Law, the first law firm on Wall Street to open a Romania practice, where participants learned about immigration & visas, taxation, IP, and cybesecurity and data protection regulations in the U.S. From there, they traveled to the United Nations headquarters to meet with Romania's Ambassador to the UN and talk about the organizations' cooperation with the private sector. This meeting had a particular symbolic significance as October 24th marked the 78th anniversary of the United Nations. The last meeting of the day was at monday.com's U.S. headquarters, where delegates had the chance to gain insights on how monday.com scaled on the New York market and how the city helped the company to grow in North America.

In the evening, delegates attended a dinner with Romanian professionals in the NYC Metro area, hosted at UiPath, Inc.

Day 4, October 25th, 2024 - New York City, NY

The last day of AmCham's business delegation started at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYC EDC), where participating companies learned what the city is doing to attract international business and how companies on AmCham's delegation can benefit from the incentives and the programs the EDC runs in New York. The next engagement on the delegates' agenda was at IBM Innovation Studio New York, to learn from Jean-Pierre Lartigue, Vice-President - Corporate Strategy about the latest developments in AI and what American corporations are doing to seize the opportunities presented by emerging tech. The delegation concluded with a tour of Columbia University hosted by Adam Kolker, Dean - Columbia Law School.

October 26th, 2024 - New York City, NY

What better way to say goodbye to America than a sunrise experience on the iconic Empire State Building! We marked the end of the business delegation with a breakfast on the 86th floor of the most famous building in the world, where the delegation enjoyed the unforgettable experience of the sun rising over the skyscrapers of New York City.
