Asociația Techsoup is proud to announce the launch of the 2024 edition of Meet and Code, an initiative designed to enhance advanced digital skills and creative thinking among under-resourced youth across Romania. The initiative addresses educational disparities highlighted by the PISA 2022 results, which show significant gaps in creative thinking skills between Romanian students from various socio-economical backgrounds.

Meet and Code, coordinated by Asociația Techsoup în România, is an integral part of a larger European effort organized by Haus des Stiftens and TechSoup Europe, supported this year by Amazon in 13 European countries.

The program offers €500 micro-grants to nonprofit organizations to organize technology-focused events. These events aim to cultivate creative thinking and digital competencies, particularly among students from disadvantaged and under-resourced communities.

Since its start in 2017, Meet and Code has reached over 24,600 students in Romania through 613 educational activities, distributing €183,900 in grants.

For the 2024 edition, Asociatia Techsoup is placing a strong emphasis on delivering quality education in programming and creative thinking to disadvantaged and underserved groups. The initiative aims to bridge the educational gap by promoting diversity, gender equality, and environmental stewardship.

Events funded by Meet and Code will include advanced digital skills workshops, creative programming sessions, and robotics courses, all designed to prepare the next generation for a digitally-driven future.

Nonprofit organizations, including associations of parents, students, and teachers, are invited to apply for the €500 grants until September 30, 2024. The funded events are to be conducted by October 31, 2024.

Detailed information and registration are available on the official Meet and Code website, here
