Grateful for today’s constructive dialogue with Victor NEGRESCU, Vice-President of the European Parliament, well attended by business leaders representing various industries in the AmCham Romania community. 

Members in the audience appreciated the valuable insights shared by VP Negrescu, reflecting his deep understanding of the EU regulatory and decision-making framework and long-term objectives, as well as his high-level engagement in both European and domestic politics.

The discussion addressed key EU policies and regulations impacting EU–U.S. trade relations and U.S.–Romania economic cooperation, as well as Romania-specific challenges that affect the country’s investment outlook and economic competitiveness.

In terms of opportunities, VP Negrescu emphasized the need to identify and develop large-scale, innovative, strategic projects that could position Romania as a leader, in order to make the most of the opportunities under the next EU financial framework as well as in advancing the economic cooperation with the United States. Energy, defense, cybersecurity, healthcare, were key areas where Romania could serve as the EU gateway for U.S. strategic investments and technology transfers.

VP Negrescu concluded by reiterating his openness to continuing the dialogue based on concrete and well-founded proposals across all topics discussed.
