Duplicat - 800 participants and 70 speakers on stage at the AI & Big Data Conference – Regional AI Valley in Bucharest, a landmark moment for regional tech cooperation

The third edition of the AI & Big Data Conference – Regional AI Valley, recently held in Bucharest, marked an important step forward in strengthening technology cooperation across the region.

The event brought together 800 participants and featured 70 international leaders, government officials, and senior executives from the technology, finance, and defense sectors, confirming the strong interest in integrating artificial intelligence into regional economies.

Organized by AmCham Romania, AmCham Moldova, and AmCham Ukraine, together with ANIS Romania, ATIC Moldova, and the IT Ukraine Association, the conference demonstrated the need for a shared platform for collaboration among the three countries. The contributions of the 70 speakers offered complementary perspectives on AI integration — ranging from governance, ethics, infrastructure, and public policy to technical solutions, successful models and platforms, cybersecurity, and many other related topics.

On behalf of the organizers, Cerasela Baiculescu, Vice President of AmCham Romania, and Alexandru Gozun, President of AmCham Moldova, highlighted the strong interest among members of the participating business communities in collaboration and partnerships that support the integration of AI and Big Data into business processes.

Cerasela Baiculescu, AmCham Romania: "The technology community and the business sector in Romania recognize that we are at a turning point where technology is no longer simply a support for business, but is becoming the central element defining the architecture of the future. We believe that the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence will strengthen economic competitiveness, accelerate the modernization of public administration, and reinforce resilience at the regional level."

Alexandru Gozun, AmCham Moldova:  "In the era of artificial intelligence that we have already entered, the only path to competitiveness is collaboration. As a region, through the joint efforts of the public sector, business community, academia, and civil society, we have the power to create a shared ecosystem and develop it in a way that serves the interests of all."

The dialogue was supported by high-level government participation, including Oana-Clara Gheorghiu, Deputy Prime Minister of Romania; Eugen Osmochescu, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova; and Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova.

The agenda covered three essential areas:

  • AI in Policy & Defence: Representatives from Cisco, Google, and IBM, together with guests from the public sector — ANCOM Romania, e-Governance Moldova, the Defense Committee of the Chamber of Deputies – Parliament of Romania — international organizations such as the NATO Industrial Advisory Group and the EBRD, and private-sector companies including Thales Group, Oves Enterprise, Shield AI, NVIDIA, and Strimco, debated AI governance and strategic resilience.
  • AI in Business: Leaders from IBM, Google, Adobe Romania, Genpact, and Leviatan Group, together with guest speakers from Amazon Development Center, Booking, Ciklum, Connect CEE, FintechOS, Genezio, GapMinder, Microsoft, Oracle, UiPath, Vodafone, and Zipper Romania, joined local founders and investors to analyze how intelligent automation can optimize business processes.
  • AI in Finance: Representatives from Visa, Cisco, maib, AC Tech/T1A, and Envisia, together with guest speakers from Banca Transilvania, Creatia, Deloitte, Earlyone, Fagura, Global Ukraine, Keysfin, ING Bank Romania, Tonik Digital Bank Philippines, and SAS Romania, discussed the transformation of financial security and user experience in banking.

Through the regional approach of the 2026 edition, the AI & Big Data Conference – Regional AI Valley marks the transition toward a platform for dialogue and community building, confirming Bucharest’s potential as a hub for innovation and digital transformation.
