On March 6, Bucharest Becomes a Strategic AI Hub in the Region: Companies from Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine Cooperate for Competitiveness in the AI Era

Over 70 international leaders, government officials, and senior technology executives gather at the AI & Big Data Conference – Regional AI Valley

On March 6, Bucharest will become a strategic focal point on Europe’s artificial intelligence map as it hosts the third edition of the AI & Big Data Conference – Regional AI Valley. The event will bring together more than 70 speakers — international leaders from technology, finance, defence, public administration, and academia.

Organized by AmCham Romania, AmCham Moldova, and AmCham Ukraine, together with ANIS Romania, ATIC Moldova, and the IT Ukraine Association, the conference aims to strengthen regional cooperation in AI and Big Data and contribute to shaping a coordinated regional platform for AI collaboration on the European Union’s eastern flank.

The conference will open with an official panel featuring Oana-Clara Gheorghiu, Deputy Prime Minister of Romania; Eugen Osmochescu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Digitalization of the Republic of Moldova; and Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova. The discussion will address strategic regional cooperation in AI, the economic impact of emerging technologies, and alignment with European and transatlantic priorities.

The main stage will host internationally recognized experts, including Louise Gunsjö (Vice President, IBM & IBM Quantum Ambassador), Dr. Nadiia Vasylieva (MIT), Joe Weiss (Palo Alto UK), Fahed Bizzari (Bellamy Alden AI Consulting), as well as Professors Haim Levy (Ben-Gurion University) and Eugen Dimant (University of Pennsylvania). Their interventions will examine the impact of artificial intelligence on decision-making processes, institutional adaptation, and the ways in which the human–AI interface is reshaping economic and organizational structures.

The agenda continues with specialized parallel sessions structured around three strategic pillars:

AI in Policy & Defence: This session brings together government officials, regulators, defence representatives, and members of the NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG), alongside leaders from global companies such as Google, Cisco, Microsoft, and Thales. Discussions will focus on AI governance, dual-use innovation, and strengthening strategic resilience.

AI in Business: Leaders from global companies, including Google, IBM, UiPath, Amazon, Microsoft, Vodafone, Oracle, and Adobe, will join founders and investors from the regional ecosystem to examine how AI accelerates growth, optimizes operations, and reshapes business models across industries.

AI in Finance: Executives from banking, fintech, and consulting — including representatives of maib (Moldova Agroindbank), Citi Institute, Visa, Deloitte, ING Romania, SAS, and Cisco — will discuss how artificial intelligence and advanced analytics are transforming financial security, decision-making, and the development of innovative financial products and services.

Through this edition, the AI & Big Data Conference – Regional AI Valley further consolidates Bucharest’s position as a regional hub for strategic dialogue on artificial intelligence, digital security, and data-driven economic transformation.

The event is supported by strategic partners, including IBM (Strategic Partner); Cisco and Visa (Platinum Partners); Adobe Romania, DAAC Digital, Genpact, Google, Envisia, Leviatan Group, maib, UNFPA, and Zipper (Gold Partners); AC Tech (Inception Partner); and Euronews Romania (Strategic Media Partner).
