Stratulat Albulescu advised eTravel, a Polish-based business travel management (BTM) company backed by Enterprise Investors, on the acquisition of a majority stake in Accent Travel & Events (“Accent Travel”), one of the main independent players in the Romanian BTM market.

The transaction marks eTravel’s entry into Romania and represents an important step in its continued expansion across Central and Eastern Europe. The combination brings together eTravel’s technology-driven business travel platform and regional scale with Accent Travel’s established local presence and in-depth knowledge of the Romanian market.

SAA provided legal assistance to eTravel throughout the transaction, covering the Corporate/M&A aspects of the transaction, the Competition Law matters and applicability of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) regime, as well as the Employment Law matters.

Andrzej Wierzba, the CEO and majority shareholder of eTravel, commented: “This transaction marks our entry into the Romanian market by acquiring a majority stake in Accent Travel, a very professional and experienced local business travel management company. We are thrilled about future growth opportunities and look forward to working with the Accent Travel team to further grow the business. I would like to thank the whole SAA team for their invaluable help with this transaction. They showed great responsiveness and professionalism throughout the process. It being our first transaction in the Romanian market it was very important for me to be working with a professional and experienced local advisor.”

Andreea Serban, Partner at Stratulat Albulescu, commented: “We are happy to have supported eTravel on a transaction that represents a significant step in its continued expansion across Central and Eastern Europe. This investment reflects the attractiveness of the Romanian market and brings together two highly complementary businesses with a clear strategic rationale. We are grateful to eTravel for the trust placed in our team and are delighted to have contributed to this important milestone in its growth.”

The transaction will generate tangible benefits for Accent Travel’s clients, giving them access, through eTravel’s technology platform, to a significantly broader range of hotel and air travel content, including a wider portfolio of low-cost carriers, as well as fares, services and travel packages offered directly by airlines through modern distribution channels (NDC).
