Investing in Digital Skills. Strengthening Romania’s Future Workforce

by Roma Education Fund Romania February 24, 2026

Digital skills are no longer optional in today’s economy. They are foundational to academic success, employability, and meaningful participation in society. Yet many vulnerable children in Romania continue to lack access to basic digital infrastructure, structured learning support, and safe, well-equipped educational environments. Without targeted intervention, this gap risks becoming a long-term barrier to social and economic inclusion.

Roma Education Fund Romania has secured and prepared two educational spaces in Pantelimon and Giulești–Sârbi, located in communities with high levels of vulnerability. These centers are designed to become fully equipped Digital Learning hubs dedicated to children from Roma and other marginalized backgrounds.

At this stage, we are building the foundation. Our objective is to equip these centers with the necessary infrastructure so that structured digital education programs can be implemented in a sustainable and high-quality manner. We have a clear and ambitious plan: to transform existing educational spaces into modern digital learning environments that can offer children real access to 21st-century skills.

The funds will be invested directly in equipping the centers to make digital education possible, including:

  • VR immersive learning systems, complete virtual reality headsets, curriculum-aligned educational content, and classroom management platforms that make learning interactive and experiential across subjects such as science, geography, and history
  • Interactive digital classroom packages, hardware and software bundles including tablets, interactive displays, laptops, and licensed e-learning platforms to support blended and adaptive instruction
  • Robotics and coding kits, hands-on tools that introduce children to computational thinking, basic programming, and STEM pathways
  • Digital safety and media literacy modules, structured content and workshops that promote safe and responsible online behavior
  • Teacher training and mentoring support, ensuring educators are fully equipped to integrate digital tools effectively into everyday instruction
  • Maintenance, technical support, and connectivity upgrades, guaranteeing sustainability and uninterrupted access to digital resources.

By investing in digital inclusion today, you are investing in Romania’s future talent pipeline, children who, with the right tools and guidance, can become skilled professionals, innovators, and active contributors to a more competitive and inclusive economy.

Support digital inclusion! Invest in future talent!
