It's a fact! Most Romanian children in rural areas do not see a doctor until the age of 12, for at least four reasons:
This is the problem faced by Romanian children in rural areas, but here's what happens when we step in to help them! Since 2021, the Romanian Red Cross has been running the Health Caravan project, through which it travels to rural areas of Romania with limited access to medical services. Since its launch, the Health Caravan has provided free medical services, with the help of sponsors, in 68 rural communities in Romania.
Between February 2021 and January 2026, over 17,670 vulnerable people were examined as part of the Caravan. Following the consultations, we detected over 4,000 cases of cardiovascular disease, metabolic and endocrine disorders, respiratory and ENT problems, gastrointestinal disorders, and neurological or musculoskeletal pathologies. Over 58% of those consulted were children.
That is why the Romanian Red Cross has decided to launch a mobile medical clinic for children in rural areas as part of the Health Caravan, with the aim of expanding free basic medical services provided to children in rural and vulnerable areas. When we cannot bring children to the hospital, we bring the hospital to the children — because prevention today means health and hope for tomorrow.
The first steps have been taken, and the community is mobilizing every day to support our effort.
Companies can contribute to this noble goal by directing up to 20% of their income tax recorded in Romania (Form D177).
We need €700,000 to get the mobile medical clinic for children up and running, but we are not starting from scratch. We already have €92,000 of the amount, expertise, and dedicated doctors. Together, we can offer these children the chance of early detection of treatable conditions. Prevention is always better than a cure. Join us on the Road to Goodness and help launch the Mobile Clinic for children in forgotten areas of Romania! Thank you for supporting the Romanian Red Cross!
