In Romania’s rural communities, where young people often face barriers to opportunity and mobility, Asociația BookLand is working to rewrite the narrative of education and economic empowerment. The Association has spent over a decade building bridges between aspiration and achievement for children who have historically had the least access to quality education. From renovating school buildings to pioneering Romania’s first pre-university dual-education campus in the country side, BookLand is creating a blueprint for educated students and confident, professionally skilled citizens.
A Track Record of Impact
BookLand’s journey began with a hands-on mission: to improve learning conditions in rural schools. Between 2020 and 2023, BookLand renovated and equipped 80 schools & kindergartens in villages all across the country, enabling more than 15,000 children to attend modern, safe, and inspiring learning environments. But physical renovations (as important as they are) can only take students so far. Persistent challenges in Romania’s education system, particularly its emphasis on theory over practical learning, continued to leave many youth underprepared for the realities of the modern labor market. To tackle this systemic gap, BookLand expanded its mission toward educational transformation.
BookLand Professional Campus, the super-school in rural Romania that empowers students and shapes tomorrow’s workforce
At the heart of BookLand’s vision is the Professional Dual Campus, a first-of-its-kind pre-university campus located in the rural community of Vulturești, Argeș. Spread on more than 72,000 sqm, the Campus focuses on Vocational Educational Training; here, students learn not only through academic knowledge, but also through craft and hands-on experience, as the campus equips young people with theoretical grounding and professional skills for various trades that drive Romania’s economic future.
Students with the BookLand Campus graduate with real capabilities and, increasingly, with guaranteed connections to employment pathways in their home region, reducing the talent drain that has seen so many young Romanians seek opportunities abroad.
Construction began in September 2024 and by the end of 2025 10 of its +50 planned buildings had been finalized, with construction work continuing in 2026. Once completed, the Campus will offer students all necessary facilities, at private school level, but with 0 (zero) costs for the families. Everything is provided for free for the Campus students: daily transport by bus, two meals per day, afterschool, uniforms, textbooks and school supplies, access to extracurricular activities and more.
The first cohort of students enrolled in September 2025, in the first, fifth and ninth grade; the Campus will be able to welcome more than 1,000 students when fully operational.
Support education and make a difference, at no cost
Recognizing that meaningful change requires broad shared investment, BookLand has made it easy for individuals and corporations to support its mission, without any additional financial burden.
→ F230 Individual Tax Redirection
Individual taxpayers can choose to redirect 3.5% of their salary income tax to BookLand Association, using the F230 tax form. This allows citizens to support community education initiatives simply by designating their tax commitment, without paying a dime out of pocket. The online forms takes no more than 2 minutes to fill in. Deadline: 25 May.
→ F177 Corporate Tax Redirection
Companies subject to profit tax can allocate up to 20% of their owed tax to BookLand via Formular 177 (F177). This mechanism lets businesses contribute to rural education & workforce development without outlaying extra funds from marketing or CSR budgets, turning existing tax obligations into meaningful community impact. Here are some of the more than 1,000 companies that have chosen to support our mission in the past few years. Deadline: 25 June.
Lasting transformation requires collective effort: companies, educators, families, and students all have a role to play. Whether through tax redirection, partnerships, or community engagement, there is room for everyone to contribute to a future where rural students thrive as learners and workers.
So, let’s make a real impact together!
