There are children who see the world faster, deeper, and more intensely than others. Gifted children carry within them the promise of progress, innovation, and change, and the way they are supported today will shape tomorrow's society. Without an educational system that recognizes and protects their potential, this promise risks being lost in silence.
Given this context, A_BEST TEACHERS' CLUB, in partnership with representatives of the international academic community and with the support of the Chamber of Deputies' Education Committee, is launching a series of four webinars dedicated to training teachers in pre-university education in the field of educating gifted children.
The series is aimed at all teaching staff – primary and secondary school teachers, school counselors, librarians – in state and private education, regardless of specialization, and aims to provide concrete tools for identifying, supporting, and harnessing the potential of students with distinguished abilities.
In Romania, supporting and developing education for gifted children is a moral responsibility and a national priority. It is estimated that there are over 200,000 gifted children under the age of 15, approximately 6% of all students, but only 1% benefit from specialized educational programs. In the absence of clear policies and well-structured legislation, thousands of destinies with exceptional potential remain unseen and misunderstood.
"Every gifted child is an opportunity for society to improve itself. If we don't know how to see and support them, we lose not only talent, but a brighter future," stated Aura Icodin, CEO of A_BEST and President of A_BEST TEACHERS' CLUB.
In turn, Cristina Dascălu, Vice President of the Education Committee – Chamber of Deputies, emphasizes the human dimension of this mission: "A gifted child can be a blessing, but also a silent burden, when the system is not prepared to understand them. We have a duty to build an educational framework that transforms the sensitivity and intelligence of these children into a strength for society."
A real problem with long-term impact
In the absence of an adequate educational framework, gifted children and their families face major difficulties:
Without early and consistent intervention, these vulnerabilities can lead to academic failure and the loss of valuable potential for society as a whole.
