A Modern Legislative Framework in the Areas of Competition, Public Procurement and Consumer Protection High on AmCham's Agenda

by AmCham Romania February 28, 2017

Anca Harasim, AmCham Romania Executive Director joined the speakers' panel at the PRIA Competition Conference today to acknowledge the importance of the public –private dialogue between the business community and institutions responsible with ensuring a level playing field in the Romanian market. Through its dedicated working group, AmCham Romania has been a constant supporter of the need for improved legislation in the competition, public procurement and consumer protection.

Anca pointed the need for a modern legislative framework that will reflect the current economic realities and dynamic that will not leave room for interpretations and contradictions, that companies report when it comes to consumer protection legislation, for instance. Old, heavy legislation hinders both the economic activities and a fair evaluation on the authorities’ side.

AmCham Romania believes that a modern trade related legislation is key for increasing Romania’s economic competitiveness and attracting further investments.

Competition Council and ANAP Presidents both acknowledged AmCham’s contribution in the process to improve the legislative framework and ANPC President also expressed openness for further dialogue on topics of common concern.
