AmCham Romania joined the Foreign Investors Council, the Concordia Employers' Confederation, the Romanian Business Leaders Foundation, the French Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Romania, the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and SME Romania in reiterating the key messages advanced during the consultation meeting convened by President Nicușors Dan on May 29, 2025.
During the meeting, representatives of the private sector organizations shared the business community's perspective on Romania’s strategic economic directions and the necessary measures to reduce the budget deficit.
Key topics related to fiscal policy and approaches to stimulate investment growth in Romania were discussed. Business representatives emphasized that in recent years, public spending has increased, creating major structural imbalances that are no longer sustainable.
Among the solutions supported by the private sector, the importance of reducing tax evasion, streamlining public administration, and accelerating digitalization to increase budget revenue collection were highlighted. However, the main recommendation was increased efficiency and reduced public spending.
