Cristian Sporiș, the new president, reinforced AmCham’s commitment to promote the business community priorities: “I am extremely honored for being entrusted with this role, especially as 2023 is an anniversary year for AmCham, but also, a very intense year for the economic agenda. Along with my colleagues in the AmCham Board of Directors, we will continue to speak on behalf of AmCham Romania’s over 530 members on the challenges and opportunities Romania must manage. The reform and investments program, so necessary for capitalizing the NPRR as well as for meeting the criteria for OECD accession, the two major country projects, as well as for strengthening the economic cooperation with the USA, are the strategic directions for Romania that AmCham will actively contribute to.”
In 2023 AmCham celebrates 30 years of presence and activity in Romania, 30 years of representing the business community in the dialogue with the authorities on public policies impacting the economy. AmCham Romania brings together 530 members – U.S., international and Romanian companies that operate in 32 business sectors, have a cumulated turnover of EUR 65 billion, a contribution to GDP of approximately 13% and have created over 250.000 jobs in Romania.
The economic impact of AmCham Romania members and the leading priorities have been shared during an anniversary edition of the Annual General Meeting of Members, in the presence of special guests: U.S. Ambassador to Romania Kathleen Kavalec, President of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, Prime-minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciucă, President of the Republic of Moldova Parliament, Igor Grosu and the Prime-minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recean.
