More than 200 business leaders in the AmCham community welcomed President Nicușor Dan at the 10th edition of the AmCham Romania CEO Business Forum today.

AmCham President Vlad Boeriu emphasized AmCham’s upcoming initiatives under the U.S. Relations agenda, conveyed members’ main concerns regarding Romania’s economic and investment outlook, and outlined several mid to long-term strategic objectives that must remain a priority despite current challenges.

AmCham’s key messages today:

• Romania faces a serious fiscal challenge that must be addressed through structural reforms, not by measures that discourage investment.
• Maintaining the minimum turnover tax risks driving away greenfield investments, penalizing honest taxpayers, and fueling divisions in society.
• Romania needs to restore investor confidence, reduce the deficit responsibly, and continue with its major national projects – OECD accession, capital market development, EU and U.S. partnerships, and deep reform of public systems. Stability, transparency, and a long-term vision for the country are necessary to make Romania a credible and competitive investment destination.
