Business - Academia Council, the 4th Formal Reunion

by AmCham Romania December 7, 2015

AmCham Romania, in collaboration with the University of Craiova, organized the fourth formal reunion of the Business-Academia Council, on December 4th, 2015.

The Business-Academia Council reunites three interest groups: top 7 universities in Romania, student associations and employers who come together to set new directions for action.

These yearly gatherings aim to increase the employability of students and graduates and reduce the gap between what employers want and the training of future specialists, supporting a dialogue between academics and representatives of the economic environment on the development and dissemination of best practices. The main purpose of AmCham member companies is to increase the employability of students and graduates, and reduce the gap between employers’ expectations and actual student preparation, while also supporting the dialogue between academics and economic environment representatives in view of developing and disseminating best practices examples.

Given the recent change of the Government, the main objective of the fourth reunion of the Business-Academia Council is to come up with an agreed set of priorities and legislative changes that need to be addressed in the upcoming year. Such set of principles will be presented in the next meeting with the Minister of National Education, Mr. Adrian Curaj.

The Business-Academia Platform was launched in May 2013 at the initiative of AmCham Romania with the main aim of bringing together the HR Directors of the most important companies in Romania, the deans of the most prestigious universities and a few representative students’ association in Romania. The ultimate goal of the Council is the creation of links between the academic and the business environment in Romania and finding the solutions that would converge into ensuring a better insertion of Romanian graduates in the labor market and increase the employabiltiy of Romanian students and graduates.

23 Romanian companies, 5 universities and 3 student associations have joined the event. For more information about the initiative, please contact Task Force coordinator Ana-Maria Dorobat at amdorobat@amcham.ro.
