Raiffeisen Bank launches a grant program: Raiffeisen Communities

Raiffeisen Communities is a grant program financing small and medium-size local projects aimed at those local communities in which Raiffeisen Bank is present. It is also the first online project competition ever developed by a Romanian bank, meant to support financially and through volunteering and know-how those NGOs that promote projects that are best suited for the local communities.

The program can be accessed exclusively on the website. Also available on this website are: the competition guideline and calendar, the eligibility and selection criteria.

The results of the competition will be available on the 30th of September 2011.

In the first stage of the competition, ending on the 12th of August 2011, Raiffeisen Bank awaits for the letters of intent of those organizations that wish to develop a social responsibility program and need partial financial support. The template of the letter of intent and the uploading instructions can be found on The letters of intent will be analyzed and selected by a group of Raiffeisen Bank volunteers, on the basis of the criteria mentioned on the website.

In the second stage of the competition (29 August – 29 September 2011), the selected projects will have to be more fully explained. The projects will be visible for everyone on, and their supporters will be invited to vote for them. The grants will be awarded to those projects gaining more votes.

The value of a grant ranges between 3.000 and 22.000 RON, with a total amount of 220.000 Ron available within the Raiffeisen Comunitati framework. The projects have to be in one of these fields:

• Education (formal) – civic, financial and entrepreneurship
• Social services – aimed at increasing the autonomy of people in need of assistance
• Sport – for the masses, as a lifestyle
• Environmental protection – urban ecology

The winning projects need to start in October-December 2011.
