The Romanian architecture, engineering, and construction group achieves triple certification for design, construction, and security-minded information management, joining Skanska, Balfour Beatty, and BAM
Leviatan Group has become the first organization in Eastern Europe to obtain BSI Kitemark™ certification for Building Information Modeling (BIM), awarded by the British Standards Institution (BSI), according to publicly available information, placing the Romanian group in the same category as global giants such as Skanska, Balfour Beatty, and BAM – companies with billions of euros in turnover.
Leviatan Design and Ubitech Construcții, companies part of Leviatan Group, have obtained the BSI Kitemark™ certification covering design, construction and security-minded information management, in accordance with ISO 19650-1:2018, ISO 19650-2:2018 and ISO 19650-5:2020. For clients in the public and private sectors, the certification translates into concrete benefits: up to a 30% reduction in delivery time, elimination of costly on-site errors, and significantly increased control over costs and deadlines.
"This certification confirms not only the technical level we have achieved, but also our organizational maturity, our ability to manage information and deliver complex projects predictably and securely. BSI certification is not a trophy, but a passport that opens access to the most demanding international projects", said Cătălin Podaru, founder and CEO of Leviatan Group.
The BSI Kitemark™ certification received by Leviatan Group comes at a time when Romania is aligning its public construction sector with European digitalization requirements, including the mandatory adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) for public projects by 2028. Leviatan Group, with a consolidated turnover of over €100 million in 2024, has already demonstrated the value of the digital approach in complex projects such as the expansion and modernization of the 71st Air Base in Câmpia Turzii, a NATO infrastructure compatible with F-16 and F-35, after completing the work in record time, 25% ahead of schedule.
“For our clients, this certification means transparent processes, secure information, and the certainty of working with an internationally validated partner capable of delivering complex projects to the highest standards”, explained Maria Văsi, Director of Operations and Transformation.
The group supports its digital processes using the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) platform, which is itself BSI Kitemark™ certified. This provides the structured workflows and standardized functionalities required for effective information management, a critical factor in the successful delivery of complex architecture, engineering and construction projects.
"BSI have been proud to support the Leviatan and Ubitech teams to take advantage of the benefits that proper utilization of BIM brings. I’d like to thank Leviatan and Ubitech for their team’s active engagement with the audits conducted by BSI, where they showcased their commitment to continual improvement regarding their approach to Building Information Modelling," Gary Pattison, Certification Team Manager, BSI Group.
BSI Kitemark™ certification for BIM is granted only to organizations that demonstrate rigorous implementation of ISO 19650 standards across the entire project lifecycle. Founded in 1901, BSI is the world's first standards organization, operating in 195 countries.
