Ymens, the first Romanian cloud broker, together with NEC Corporation, the global provider of IT and communications technologies, today announced a new G-Cloud pilot program for local public sector organizations in Romania. The two companies are inviting public sector institutions to join the pilot program by 31st of January and benefit from using a range of cloud-based applications, customized for their specific needs, free of charge for the next three months. Ymens and NEC are planning a full scale roll-out of the G-Cloud services in early 2015.
Through this G-Cloud pilot project, a range of cloud-based workflow automation software solutions will be made available to public institutions in areas including social assistance, town management or document management and archiving, in addition to applications for video conferencing and collaboration. The aim is to improve the quality of services delivered to citizens in both urban and rural areas by increasing efficiency, making better use of limited resources, minimizing costs and increasing the public sector’s ability to meet internal performance targets.
Several city halls are already interested in entering the pilot with the aim of providing modern, consistent and transparent online services to their citizens across the counties they support.
Costin Matache, General Manager at Ymens, commented: “Cloud is no longer a buzz word for Romanian authorities – it’s the step they need to take to be more efficient and make better use of their resources. Our intent is to make the cloud work for the Romanian public sector. Cloud can simplify a lot of the processes in local institutions. It offers flexibility, helps to reduce red tape and can become a game-changer in delivering modern, transparent and simplified services to citizens.”
In 2014, Ymens and NEC formed a partnership to deliver modern government cloud services in Romania, combining Ymens’ in-depth cloud expertise with NEC’s robust, secure and proven cloud platform technologies. The G-Cloud pilot program will provide the modern software tools public sector organizations need to increase staff productivity and enable public institutions to better serve the needs of society, while reducing direct expenditure on IT infrastructure and dedicated resources.
Roxana Banica, Romania Country Manager, NEC Eastern Europe, commented: “Through this program, we’re aiming to facilitate cloud adoption in the public sector by showcasing the wide range of benefits it can bring. Using NEC’s Cloud Brokerage Suite, which has been widely adopted at global level, we’re able to deliver cloud applications that can enable governments, citizens and businesses in Romania to join a single digital ecosystem. We’re inviting public institutions to take part of this pilot and gain a productivity boost and an improved relationship with the citizens while optimizing costs.”
G-Cloud supports public sector cloud use for improved interactions between public authorities, citizens and the local business environment. Cloud technology can sustain public institutions in accessing modern IT solutions in the benefit of the society.
