A joint delegation of the business community, represented by AHK Romania, AmCham Romania, BRCC, CCIFER, the Foreign Investors Council (FIC), CCIpR, and NRCC, met on Wednesday at Victoria Palace with Prime Minister Luca Niculescu and members of the Government to discuss key economic priorities.
The dialogue opened with an overview of the Government's priorities for attracting and encouraging investment and focused on the main economic issues on the consultation agenda.
Fiscal consolidation was among the top priorities emphasized by private sector representatives as a key factor for Romania's competitiveness. This must be supported by complementary objectives, including reducing the budget deficit, bringing down inflation, and implementing structural reforms.
Leaders of business organizations and Government representatives also discussed and reaffirmed the fiscal commitments made at the start of the Government's mandate, including eliminating the minimum turnover tax (IMCA) as of January 1, 2027, and implementing the state aid schemes included in the economic recovery package.
Participants also agreed on the need to restore investor confidence through a stable regulatory framework and clear priorities that support increased investment flows and productivity.
Business representatives also proposed a series of sector-specific measures to ensure access to competitively priced energy for industry, accelerate the digitalization of public services, and review the VAT collection mechanism to combat tax evasion.
Regarding national strategic objectives, the business community called for maintaining a consistent structural reform agenda over the next six months, aligned with Romania's OECD accession objectives, and for launching a national initiative for euro adoption, supported by the Government, the National Bank of Romania (NBR), and other relevant stakeholders.
AHK Romania, AmCham Romania, BRCC, CCIFER, the Foreign Investors Council (FIC), CCIpR, and NRCC reaffirm their commitment to continued dialogue with the Government and to contributing the business community's expertise to identifying concrete solutions for Romania's economic development. Government decisions must ensure predictability, stability, and a level playing field for all companies that invest, create jobs, and contribute to Romania's development.
