We kicked off this week with an excellent dialogue with Dragoș Pîslaru, Minister of Investments and EU Project, whom we welcomed this morning at @AmCham Romania.
On AmCham’s behalf, Board Member Daniela Nemoianu, Chair of the European Funds, Public Procurement and PPP Committee, congratulated Minister Dragoș Pîslaru for Romania’s success in renegotiating PNRR and in improving the national framework for maximizing the use of EU funding towards feasible projects in the remaining timeframe.
Minister Pîslaru highlighted MIPE’s leading focus on renegotiating Romania’s PNRR and ensuring the maximum possible absorption of PNRR financing over the next 10 months, until the program’s closure in August 2026.
Along with securing the PNRR financing, he emphasized the changes and tools MIPE developed to manage better EU fund absorption, such as simplification, improving coordination through centralized dashboards for both PNRR and cohesion funds, that will improve transparency, predictability, and awareness for all relevant stakeholders as well as for the public at large.
Members appreciated the forward-looking perspective outlined by Minister Pîslaru and the vision to turn Romania’s access to and use of EU Financing beyond 2028 into a growth engine that consolidates Romania’s role as a regional player.
He emphasized the role of EU funding and inflows in reducing Romania’s budgetary deficit and underlined the need for sustained efforts going forward. Romania should learn from past mistakes and better prepare for the next financial frameworks, and that public-private partnership will be key in increasing the economic impact of EU-funded projects.
Our dialogue today concluded with a joint commitment to an open, constructive dialogue and partnership.
