“Together we leave no kid behind” – the new brand campaign to help extend the “School in a Box” program

by Vodafone August 3, 2020

  • Vodafone Romania gets involved in the expansion of the “School in a Box” educational program to offer equal chances for pupils without access to digital education
  • Both Vodafone users and users from other mobile networks have now the opportunity to involve in this educational initiative
  • Vodafone Romania Foundation will double the entire amount of the donations

The past months have been all about adapting our lives, our ways of working, learning, communicating and even our ways of socializing. More than ever, everything is now related to technology and connectivity.

Unfortunately, one of three pupils did not have access to educational resources during the pandemic crisis. This means unequal access to education caused by the lack of digital tools & knowledge, which lead to significant gaps between different parts of the country and between various social categories with a large number of kids and teachers left behind.

With less than two months until the start of the 2020/2021 school year and giving the pandemic context, there are many uncertain things regarding the way all children across Romania will have equitable access to education.

Starting today, Vodafone’s mission to support the digitization of the Romanian society opens a new chapter as the company is launching the “Together we leave no kid behind” brand campaign to support the pupils get access to online education this autumn.

“This is a crucial moment for the future of the Romanian digital society. I think it is very important to take action now and, together with our customers and in line with authorities’ initiatives, support all children and teachers get access to qualitative digital educational resources this September. Only by acting together, we will manage to succeed in this new context. Despite the fact that the pandemic situation affected our business plans as well for this year, we considered investments in education should be a priority in order to support the future of Romania. Digitisation should be a priority for every actor on this market, whether we talk about companies, authorities or individuals and we should all focus on minimizing the gaps between rural and urban and the ones between the different social categories. Education should be the same for everybody and we will contribute to make this thing possible”, stated Murielle Lorilloux, CEO Vodafone Romania.

Besides the acquisition of devices by Vodafone Foundation, Vodafone contributes with free data connectivity for the children and valuable educational content, while upgrading the current “School in a Box” platform features.

Both Vodafone users and users from other mobile networks have now the opportunity to involve in this educational initiative by joining the common effort to help children get access to education. People have the options to donate any amount to extend the “School in a Box”, a program of Vodafone Romania Foundation and World Vision Romania Foundation that provides the necessary means for digital classes. Vodafone Romania Foundation will double the total donations amount raised by the end of campaign. All mobile users can donate via SMS to 8846 or by using a credit card, while Vodafone Romania users can also donate directly from the existing credit in the extra option of the prepaid card or directly on their invoice for mobile services. The campaign will take place until September 15.

Vodafone Romania Foundation launched “School in a Box” program in 2018. Currently, there are 5,300 children from 22 schools in 11 counties from Romania benefiting from this educational solution. Education represents one of the main areas in which the Foundation is constantly investing.
