by Vodafone Foundation February 10, 2023

The first home of a baby born with severe medical problems is not a quiet and loving room, but a hospital where medical staff is fighting for its survival. If the baby happens to end up in a poorly equipped hospital, its chance of survival are scares.

We need your help! Redirect 3.5% of your income tax to the Life for Newborns Fund and help us provide newborns with proper medical care that increases their chances of survival.

To redirect 3.5% of your income tax, simply fill in and sign the 230 online form, right here. It only takes three minutes of your time and does not imply any costs for you. You can opt to check the box requesting a redirection for a two-years period, which we would appreciate very much.

Our staff will take care of submitting the form to ANAF, so there is nothing else for you to do besides clicking send on the online form.

The deadline for submission to the Financial Administration is May 25, 2023.

We feal it is important for you to know that more than 90% of the public hospitals specializing in obstetrics, gynecology and neonatology in Romania are insufficiently equipped. There is still a lot to do, and we have made it our mission to try to equip as many such units as possible, ensuring that they can provide the medical services that newborns need.

From the neonatologists we worked with last year, we have learned that the story of the newborn children is not just one about survival. It is also about a good start, allowing them to develop harmoniously later in life. Therefore, hospital endowments play a big role also in the early spotting of conditions that can be treated and resolved. Not identified in time, such conditions can produce sequelae that can negatively impact the entire life of the child.

If you would like to know more about the results of our intervention in six neonatology and neonatal intensive care units in 2021-2022, here are some numbers:

• We estimate that 11,000 newborns, out of which 2,000 with medical ailments, will benefit from the best medical care or, if the situation requires it, from optimal transfer to higher-ranking wards

• 200 doctors and nurses are now medically equipped to care for newborns with various ailments

• We have facilitated the organization of specialized care for newborns courses, which were attended by 50 doctors and nurses

• We embedded a telemedicine solution at the Neonatal ICU in Targu Mures Clinical Hospital.

• In the last two years, 180 pieces of medical equipment and related equipment were purchased to equip the six wards.
