FreeYa Mind announces that it will be the first campus in Romania that includes an IBM Quantum Innovation Center, aiming to train professionals capable of harnessing the potential of quantum technology in many fields, from complex simulations in medical research and advanced artificial intelligence algorithms.
This unique campus in Romania has a modern vision focused on three essential dimensions: education, research and entrepreneurship.
As an IBM Quantum Innovation Center, FreeYa Mind will have access IBM’s quantum computers over the cloud, and be able to offer their member organizations cloud access to IBM’s latest quantum systems and resources, including training and support to their users. This campus, whose construction is expected to be completed in 2026, will host courses and workshops on quantum technology, accessible to students, and professionals from various fields.
Advanced research centers in quantum computing, physics and engineering will also be established by FreeYa Mind, supported by the campus’s high-performance underground data center, which provides computing and security resources for cutting-edge quantum and AI technologies.
FreeYa Mind will provide an ecosystem to support startups and industries that apply quantum technology in innovative solutions.“Qu
antum technology is the future. Through this collaboration with IBM, we are able to offer access to top-notch educational resources and research infrastructure. Together, we are preparing the next generations for the challenges and opportunities of the quantum revolution and transforming Iași into a European reference point in this field. The campus will host the IBM Quantum Innovation Center and research laboratories, collaboration spaces, executive administrative departments, event venues and interconnectable training rooms, along with a large AI data center,” says Cristian Berariu, the FreeYa Mind Campus project initiator.
Quantum technology is redefining the boundaries of knowledge and revolutionizing the way we approach the world’s biggest challenges. Its potential to perform certain calculations exponentially faster than classical computers opens up new opportunities for industry, education and research.
"We are excited to collaborate with FreeYa Mind on their path to deliver a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary scientific hub in Iași. With access to IBM’s quantum cloud resources, students and researchers will be able to work in a dynamic, future-oriented environment, exploring solutions to real-world challenges,” said Cerasela Baiculescu, Country and Technology Leader, IBM Romania and Moldova.
The FreeYa Mind Campus will be able to offer students, researchers and industry professionals cloud access to IBM’s advanced quantum computing systems, and will be able to also offer students unique educational opportunities to work directly with quantum technologies, a necessary experience that will meet the growing demand for quantum expertise in more and more sectors. In addition to preparing a skilled workforce for the future of quantum computing, the campus’s goal is to accelerate the development of practical quantum applications.
FreeYa Mind Campus will be completed by the end of 2026 and will put Romania on the map of global initiatives that shape the future of quantum education, research and innovation.
