Amid the intensified battle for privacy on the web, browsers are replacing or ditching tracking technologies, with Google among the latest to announce a decision in this respect. Although this will be a phased approach, it will definitely impact the way we design online marketing campaigns and how we analyze the generated data.

With Google's decision to kill 3-rd party data there is a sounded demand for a better quality of 1st party data. Chrome it is not the first browser that has decided to phase out 3rd party cookies but rather joins Safari and Mozilla which already have default configuration for blocking 3rd party cookies and other identification methods such as device fingerprinting
Although these privacy changes to web browsers date back to 2015 when it was just Safari trying to change the rules of the game, a lot of things have changed since then.
Firefox joined Safari and introduced very similar changes that block third-party cookies and prevent other types of identification like device fingerprinting, the market share of those two together was not enough to make the AdTech world shake.
Google Chrome has the largest share in the web browser market (around 60%-70%), so when the news came out in January 2020, an avalanche of articles and comments related to the end of cookies and its effects in certain platforms started flowing in.
During this event we will discuss about the importance of data collected by 1st party cookies, about how brands should start to look at their data collection practices and data quality and about how marketers and analytics teams need to work together to find new solutions for targeting, segment creation, and audience identification.
