The AmCham Data Protection Task Force has the pleasure to invite members to a discussion on GDPR and the new European IT Law with special guest Hajo Michael Holtz, Senior Lecturer in Commercial Law at Uppsala University.

The online event will take place on Friday, May 17, 2024, between 11:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Meet the speaker:

Hajo Michael Holtz, Dr. iur. (Hannover), LL.M. (Edinburgh)

Senior Lecturer in Commercial Law at Uppsala University, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Business Studies

My main areas of interest are unfair competition law, the law of the digital internal market and IT law (mainly from a business perspective). I have written numerous articles in Swedish on the intersection between unfair commercial practices, data protection and copyright. In May 2024, I will publish a textbook in Swedish on “Swedish and European IT Law”. As Senior Lecturer, I am mainly working with business and economics students, social sciences students as well as students within the field of data and IT. Currently, I am programme coordinator for a brand new interdisciplinary Master's Programme in International and European Law and Business. Before joining academia, I worked as a fully qualified German lawyer at an international law firm in Berlin as well as a legal counsel at an international finance company in Stockholm. I am regularly sharing my thoughts on Swedish and European IT Law on LinkedIn (both in English and Swedish).
