Tiago Sérgio Cabral is a Legal and Policy Officer working in Directorate-General CONNECT at the European Commission and an Invited Professor at the School of Law of the University of Minho (Portugal). He is specialised in Artificial Intelligence, Data Protection and Cybersecurity. He has a PhD in Legal Sciences – Specialisation in Public Legal Sciences and Master’s in European Union law.
Before joining the European Commission, Tiago worked as a lawyer in various international law firms. He is also frequently involved in research projects and speaking commitments.
He has authored of various scientific publications in the areas of data protection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, including the recently published monograph “Proteção de Dados e Inteligência Artificial: Sinergias interpretativas e potenciais conflitos entre o RGPD e o AI Act” (Data Protection and Artificial Intelligence: interpretative synergies and potential conflicts between the GDPR and the AI Act).
