The Demographic Challenge: What Declining Birth Rates Mean for Education and Talent

AmCham Romania is organizing a roundtable discussion with Prof. Marian Preda, PhD, Rector of the University of Bucharest, on the implications of demographic trends on the education system, human capital, and the labor market, on Monday, October 19, 2026, between 15:00 and 16:30, at the AmCham Romania Premises. 

The roundtable, an initiative of the AmCham Education Platform, addresses the already concerning impact of the negative demographic trends on Romania's education system. Over the mid- and long-term, declining demographics also affect human capital development and the labor market; therefore, the discussion aims to help better understand the scale and implications of the demographic shifts Romania faces and explore public policy directions they may call for.
