United Way Romania (UWRo) is a Romanian independent foundation accredited with United Way Worldwide. Its Board includes high profile representatives of the business, NGO and media communities.
United Way works to advance the common good by focusing on the building blocks for a good life: Education – Helping Children and Youth Achieve Their Potential; Income – Promoting Financial Stability and Independence; and Health – Improving People’s Health; and thus, creating opportunities for a better life for all.
In order to achieve this, UWRo promotes the involvement of companies in CSR, and of individuals in philanthropy and volunteerism. UWRo runs workplace campaigns, and collects donations from employees through payroll deductions and sponsorships from companies.
The foundation designs impactful programs and implements them in collaboration with professional and reputable non-profits in areas such as health and services for disadvantaged groups - elderly, underprivileged children and families, disabled, ill persons, unemployed, etc. Volunteers from participating companies perform the selection and monitoring of the funded projects.
Every year United Way Romania helps over 11.500 persons to have a better life. This would not be possible without the generous support of over 100 partner companies, 3.500 individual donors, 40 major donors, and all our dedicated volunteers.
