Pirelli in Romania

Pirelli’s presence in Romania dates back to 2004, and in 2006 the first tyre was produced in its plant in Slatina, in the Olt province. Today Pirelli’s industrial hub in Slatina employs over 4100 people and has an annual production capacity of over 12 million tyres.

Pirelli has carried out constant investments in Romania over the last 16 years. These investments, also aimed at professionally training its employees, have made Slatina one of Pirelli’s best practice industrial hubs in terms of cutting edge technology and high levels of environmental sustainability.

In 2015 Pirelli also completed the construction of a new plant in Slatina equipped with latest generation technology dedicated to the production of Motorsport tyres.

These ongoing investments aimed to significantly improve Pirelli’s industrial competitiveness in Europe and to create a center of industrial excellence in Romania.

The industrial hub in Slatina is strategically located with respect to the markets of Western and Eastern Europe, and represents a logistic and commercial hub for Pirelli in Eastern Europe.

Pirelli also promotes numerous social and cultural initiatives for its employees and for the community of Slatina. These include research partnerships between Pirelli and the Universities of Bucharest and Craiova, a collaboration between Milan’s Niguarda hospital and the hospital in Slatina, a project aimed at promoting Italian culture in Slatina and InterCampus, dedicated in particular to the children of the Slatina.
