KMG International has evolved from the Romanian market to an international group that produces and delivers energy products within 11 different markets helping people get further and improving their everyday life.

The company was well-known as The Rompetrol Group N.V. until 2014 when it was renamed in KMG International N.V. as part of the strategy to integrate all activities within NC KazMunayGas JSC - the Group’s sole shareholder and Kazakhstan's national oil and gas operator - and to promote one single brand of companies for its successful entry into foreign markets.

With over 5600 employees, KMG International carries out operations throughout Europe and Central Asia, being active primarily in trading, refining and petrochemicals, retail and marketing and other services in the oil industry such as well services, drilling, EPCM.

In Romania, KMG International operates the Petromidia Năvodari refinery - the largest unit of its sort, the Vega Ploieşti refinery - the second refinery of the Group and the only producer of bitumen and hexane, the sole petrochemical division in Romania, operating in Petromidia refinery and also a vast network for the distribution of petroleum products. The strategic position of the refinery in Midia Port allows fast shipping of crude oil to Petromidia and oil products to KMG International subsidiaries in near abroad countries. In 2019, Petromidia celebrated 40 years of existence and is considered a barometer of excellence, fact certified by very good operational results and new records every year.

Petromidia and Vega refineries work in full synergy manufacturing high added-value products.

Through KMG Trading AG, the trading subsidiary located in Switzerland, the Group also carries out major crude and oil products trading operations in the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions.

Rompetrol is the main brand of KMG International, used for the refining, petrochemicals and retail activities, operating over 1000 retail distribution points in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Georgia and also for well services in the upstream area. KMG International has gained success not only through development at international level, but also in more than four decades of expertise in the oil industry.
