In Romania, Tenneco has evolved into a multi-dimensional platform, integrating manufacturing, regional business services, and operational excellence capabilities through three legal entities:
Performance Solutions – Manufacturing (Ploiesti, since 2012)
Tenneco’s brake pads manufacturing plant in Ploiesti is part of the Performance Solutions division and a key contributor to vehicle safety and performance across EMEA.
Established in 2012, the plant has grown into a strategic production hub, currently delivering approximately 50% of Tenneco’s braking production in the EMEA region.
The site operates with around 350 people, of which the majority are directly involved in manufacturing operations. The plant produces braking pads for both light vehicles (LV) and commercial vehicles (CV), using advanced hot press technologies and standardized processes aligned with the highest industry requirements.
With an annual output of approximately 15 million brake pads, the plant serves OEM and OES customers, meeting the most stringent quality standards required by leading automotive manufacturers in Europe.
The facility holds key industry certifications, including IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, and continues to invest in capacity expansion, automation, and sustainability.
Recent development projects include capacity increases for commercial vehicle production, automation initiatives to improve productivity, and investments in energy efficiency—such as a large-scale photovoltaic project aimed at reducing environmental impact.
Over time, the Ploiesti plant has evolved from a local manufacturing unit into a high-performance production hub, supporting both growth in volumes and increasing product complexity.
Regional Business Center – Bucharest (since 2014)
The Bucharest-based Regional Business Center provides regional and global support functions, including HR, Finance, IT, Procurement, and advanced business services.
The center has evolved from a traditional support structure into a regional and corporate hub, delivering complex, high-impact services across Tenneco’s global operations. Its scope extends beyond transactional activities to include end-to-end process ownership, digital transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
A key differentiator is the HR Services, HR Technology, and HR Analytics capability, positioning Bucharest as a global delivery hub of excellence for HR operations. These teams support SuccessFactors and other HR systems globally, drive data quality and reporting, enable automation, and partner with business HR to deliver scalable, technology-enabled solutions.
DRiV Operational Excellence Center – Bucharest (since 2025)
As part of Tenneco’s DRiV aftermarket division, Romania hosts a growing Operational Excellence Center, focused on supporting the EMEA aftermarket business.
This hub delivers end-to-end operational services across Planning & Supply Chain, Order Management, Sales Operations, Finance, and IT, with a strong focus on execution discipline, data accuracy, and responsiveness to customer demand.
From Bucharest, teams coordinate critical financial processes at global level, including receivables and collections, accounts payable, payments, and group reporting, ensuring consistency, control, and performance across regions.
The center also plays a key role in regional implementations of regulatory and digital initiatives, such as the rollout of e-invoicing frameworks, in close coordination with global tax and finance functions.
The center is designed to strengthen regional alignment and operational performance, contributing directly to the efficiency and competitiveness of the aftermarket business.
