“Celebrating food around the world" is an initiative of the Spouses of Heads of Mission (SPOHOM) of Bucharest, which is an informal group of spouses of ambassadors and chargés d’affaires accredited to Romania.
It is a bilingual book, featuring recipes from 26 countries and a special contribution of the foreword and a recipe by Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown. Each recipe is preceded by a short historical or personal introduction and accompanied by a variety of photos including some of ambassadorial dining settings, taken by the talented professional food photographers Alina Miron and Bogdan Popescu, and the review from the Master Chef Adi Hadean.
Ranging from appetizers, to main courses, side dishes and desserts, each recipe makes use of locally available ingredients, and has been properly tested to ensure reproducibility. This book combines cultural diplomacy and fundraising, with the aim to provide accessibility to the cultures of SPOHOM‘s diverse membership through the universal language of food, while raising funds to contribute to a better and bright future of disadvantaged Romanians. It will be a very nice gift to your family and friends.
Due to your generosity, the entire purchase price of the packages will be donated to The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Romania to support talented and disadvantaged young people.
“I was fascinated by the remarkable cultural references provided for each recipe and I would recommend this book to anyone who loves food as much as I do. If you have ever wondered how certain dishes came into existence and how they became linked to the traditions and history of a people, you will be captivated by this book. One of the few cookbooks that belongs as much in a library as in a kitchen, it should be read carefully, with a glass of wine and an open mind.” Adi Hadean
