Your Tax can Change a Child’s Future

by United Way Romania March 10, 2026

Every company and every taxpayer in Romania has the power to change lives — without spending extra money and without taking any financial risk. All it takes is a decision: where your tax will go.

The children in our programs grow up in families where daily life is a struggle. Many come from large or broken households and face constant financial uncertainty. They often wear clothes and shoes passed down from older siblings and rarely experience the joy of receiving something new. A warm meal is never taken for granted. Most have never traveled beyond their village, and much of their free time — sometimes even the time meant for homework — is spent helping their parents with household work.

For these children, school is not just about education. It is a safe place. A warm classroom. A space where they can feel protected, supported, and seen.

Through our programs, underprivileged children receive help with homework, access to literacy and non-formal education, recreational activities, and constant guidance from specialists. They discover that someone believes in them and cares about their future.

Their happiness and academic success come from simple but powerful moments: the attention of a teacher or volunteer, a book and a box of colored pencils, or a one-day trip organized through our projects. The gratitude in their eyes is unforgettable. And behind every smile is a child who finally has a chance.

For over 20 years, we have seen how consistent support can transform lives. Children stay in school. They grow emotionally stronger. They begin to dream bigger. Their school results improve; they make progress year after year and their life is changed into a success story.

Support United Way’s mission and become part of these success stories.

For Companies: Redirect Your Profit Tax with Form 177

Through Form 177, companies can redirect part of their already paid profit tax to programs in education, health, and socio-professional integration, in partnership with a trusted organization such as United Way Romania.

This is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to turn taxes into real investments in children’s futures and stronger communities.

Redirecting your profit tax through Form 177 is not only a responsible choice — it is a strategic one. It allows your company to: create long-term positive change, strengthen its Corporate Social Responsibility profile, and generate visible, measurable impact, with minimal effort and no additional cost. You simply choose how part of the tax you already owe is used.

How to get involved:

Complete a sponsorship contract with United Way Romania and send the signed document to:

Calea Floreasca 246C, Sky Tower, 2nd floor, Sector 1, Bucharest, 014476.

You may also scan and email it to Adriana Dobrea at adriana.dobrea@unitedway.ro.

For questions or support, call 0734 020 674.

For technical details on completing Form 177, please consult the linked document.

(Form 177 is available here)

By taking this step, your company directly supports programs that provide access to education, health services, and socio-professional integration for vulnerable children and families — areas where investment truly changes lives.

For Individuals: Redirect 3.5% of Your Income Tax with Form 230

Alongside the business option, individual taxpayers can also make a difference by redirecting 3.5% of their income tax to United Way Romania through Form 230. The form can be completed online via the link NGO – Form 230 and will automatically reach us for submission.

Redirecting 3.5% of your income tax means giving children and families access to school supplies, educational support, meals, counseling, and essential services. It is one of the easiest ways to turn your tax into hope — at no personal cost.

Deadline: May 26, 2026.

If you have any questions about the forms or the redirection process, please contact us. We are here to support you every step of the way.
