UPS Assists Flood Victims through Red Cross

On 11th November 2010, UPS, through its local branch, UPS Romania, offered to the Romanian Cross Red, a checque in amount of 30,000 USD to assist the victims in areas affected by floods this year.


The event took place at the Romanian Red Cross headquarters in Bucharest, and the checque was handed over by UPS Romania Country Manager to the President of the Romanian Red Cross.


This donation is a part of the global program developed by UPS, through The UPS Foundation, set up in 1951 by UPS company, in order to support the social responsibility projects worldwide and to assist the communities affected by natural disasters.

In 2009, UPS charitable contributions all over the world exceeded 100 million USD and UPS employees and their family members contributed more than 1.2 million hours of volunteer service.


This year, in Romania, UPS employees made more 150 hours of volunteer service, and apart of the donation granted to the Romanian Red Cross, UPS assisted a local association for abandoned children with an amount of 20,000 USD.
