TPA Romania: Growth in 2023 and a new Managing Partner team

by TPA Romania January 16, 2024

TPA Romania reported strong growth in its business of 15% in 2023. With a total turnover in excess of EUR 7.5 million and over 150 employees working from its offices in Bucharest and Cluj, TPA Romania consolidated its position as one of the top professional services firms in Romania in 2023.

“These are busy times for accountants and consultants, with significant challenges related to the introduction of the electronic invoicing system, SAF-T reporting and ongoing changes to the fiscal legislation. Our strong team was able to place the necessary focus on finding solutions, and this resulted in a very successful year for our firm. Our upcoming move to new offices in Bucharest, ESG service line development and continued search for optimal digitalization solutions are just some elements that already have me looking forward to a very promising 2024” – Jan Glas, Founding Partner at TPA Romania.

New Managing Partners: Cristina Petrescu and Sorana Cernea

TPA Romania also announced the promotion of two Managing Partners: Cristina Petrescu and Sorana Cernea.

Cristina Petrescu joined TPA Romania in 2004 as a Partner, after prior experience at a Big Four public accounting firm. Based in Bucharest, Cristina founded the Audit and Advisory practice of TPA Romania and succeeded in building a strong team of professional colleagues and an impressive portfolio of audit and audit-related assignments. She also has a record of achievement in business advisory services, performing due diligence and other transaction support for companies operating in various industries. Since 2016, Cristina has been successfully involved as a leading financial expert in complex disputes before international arbitral panels as part of proceedings conducted under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC). The success of Cristina’s efforts also translated into the recent promotion of Claudia Bratu as Partner of the Audit and Advisory practice. Cristina is a US Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a member of the Romanian Chamber of Auditors (CAFR) and a member of the Romanian Chamber of Certified Chartered Accountants (CECCAR).

Sorana Cernea founded the Cluj office in 2004 and joined TPA Romania in 2016 as a Partner. After joining TPA Romania, Sorana has continued to successfully develop a wide portfolio of clients, mostly located in the Transylvania region of Romania. Sorana plays an active role in the German speaking business community, which contributes to the continued success and growth of TPA Romania.

She is notable for her vast experience of more than 25 years in the fields of accounting, tax, payroll and financial auditing. Over the years, Sorana has assisted both local and international clients in various areas of activity. Sorana graduated from the Department of Economic Informatics of the Faculty of

Economics and Business Administration of Babeș-Bolyai University, while also completing postgraduate studies at the same faculty as well as Hohenheim University in Stuttgart. She holds the professional qualifications of chartered accountant, tax consultant and financial auditor, and is a member of the relevant professional chambers. Sorana is a specialized author and speaker at local and international conferences.

“I congratulate Cristina Petrescu and Sorana Cernea on their promotion to Managing Partners of TPA Romania. The appointment of a new management team chosen from among our existing partnership is a very significant step after 25 years in the history of TPA Romania. Besides their technical expertise, I do not have the slightest doubt that Cristina and Sorana will bring their tireless passion and dedication to their new responsibilities, something which could already be seen in the past months while working together with them on their transition to their new roles. TPA Romania will continue along its path of professional development in the years ahead, and with Cristina Petrescu and Sorana Cernea as Managing Partners the firm is in very good hands to continue to write our beautiful story. I am proud that we built TPA Romania together and am enthusiastic about continuing to do so with the new Managing Partners, the Partners and all our colleagues and stakeholders” – Jan Glas, Founding Partner at TPA Romania.
