PwC Academy launches the first authorised trainings for the new created Data Protection Officer job

by PwC August 27, 2018

PwC Romania together with its correspondent law firm D&B David si Baias have obtained authorisation of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) training course issued by the Labor and Social Justice Ministry and the National Education Ministry. With this certification, PwC Romania becomes authorised entity able to hold certification courses and issue diplomas recognised at national level for the Data Protection Officer position.

The first Data Protection Officer seminar will start on the 17 of September and additional information is available on the PwC Academy website. PwC Academy offers a large array of trainings and seminars aimed at both personal and professional development held by PwC professionals.

„The process of authorisation for this course was both lengthy and wavy. When we have tried for the first time to authorise this course, we realised that, in fact, in Romania this new job is not defined in the Romanian Occupational Classification. Therefore, we started working with the Sectorial Committee for Administration and Public Services within the National Qualification Authority in order to elaborate this new occupational standard. Once we have obtained this validation we could start working to authorise the trainings that will develop the future DPOs and as of this autumn we will start the first training sessions,” said Manuela Guia, Partner Attorney at D&B David si Baias.

„The DPO seminars developed by PwC Romania together with D&B David si Baias offers the highest training standard, talking both from the point of view of the training materials and the trainers involved in the seminars. Our interdisciplinary team has a strong experience with the data protection, electronic data security, organising internal processes and data management. All of these are central elements of ensuring privacy of the data and personal information held by a company. This certification, recognized nationwide, offers the possibility of starting a career in a field that is just starting to develop and where the future professionals are now emerging and the legal framework is just being drafted”, said Mircea Bozga, Partner, Risk Assurance, PwC Romania.

The team involved in this project was formed by Manuela Guia - Partner D&B David si Baias, Bianca Naghi - senior coordinator attorney and Catalina Ilie - associate attorney - on the D&B David si Baias side and Mircea Bozga - Partner, Risk Assurance, PwC Romania and Robert Stoicescu - Manager, Risk Assurance PwC Romania. The team worked closely with representatives of the Labour and Social Justice Ministry and those of the National Education Ministry.
