Bucharest, 25 February 2015. Deloitte Romania announces that former delegate Minister of energy Razvan Nicolescu has joined the firm as Executive Lead Advisor thus enhancing the firm’s Energy & Resources practice. From this position, he will focus on Romania as well as on Central Europe.

“At a time when the market is constantly asking for integrated advisory services, we are happy that Razvan has joined us. His solid career so far combined with his strong ability to succeed will be great assets to our team and I am certain that it will add benefits to our services and clients”, said Farrukh Khan, Partner Deloitte Romania.

In his turn, Razvan Nicolescu said: “I am honored to be joining a big organization that delivers high quality services and innovative solutions to the best clients and I believe my experience and values match an already strong team.”

Razvan Nicolescu’s career has always been connected to the energy sector and he has acted for both private and public sector. As the Romanian Energy Attaché to the European Union, he was involved in the successful negotiations on the European energy and climate change package. As Minister, Nicolescu has marked some significant wins, including the energy sector analysis for the revision of the Romanian strategy 2015-2035, the completion of some strategic projects in the energy sector (such as the Iasi-Ungheni gas interconnector or modernization of Urziceni gas storage facility) and redefined the State’s role as shareholder in the energy companies through increased transparency and through encouraging a private and professional management. He also contributed to the largest IPO on the Romanian market- the successful listing of Electrica. He has been president of the Administrative Board of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators being designated by the Council of the European Union in 2009 and for more than five years he was director in the largest oil and gas producer in Southeast Europe OMV Petrom.
