Johnson & Johnson Romania commits 650,000 lei in cash donations to support the community in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The aid is offered through the Romanian Red Cross, the Federation of Cancer Patients Associations (FABC) and a logistics programme addressing chronic patients.
In order to support the front-line healthcare workers in their fighting of COVID-19, Johnson & Johnson Romania donates 300,000 lei to the emergency fund of the Romanian Red Cross for purchase of personal protective equipment and intensive care unit equipment. The Romanian Red Cross will coordinate with the state authorities for the distribution of the equipment.
The company responds to the call of FABC by providing 50,000 lei financial aid for the protection of the cancer patients, who, in this period, fall in the category of vulnerable people most exposed to COVID-19. In addition to the novel coronavirus threat posed to their lives, oncologic patients are endangered by the prospect of treatment cessation. For most of these patients, mainly over 60 years old, safe transportation to a hospital setting for medication administration is critical and a first step to provide this is through the PPE to be purchased by the patients’ association.

The endeavours of Johnson & Johnson Romania are well-advanced for developing a logistics programme, with a total investment of 300,000 lei, which is dedicated to the transportation of patients in hospital setting for a secured medication administration, in cases where this is necessary. Alternative means for administration of injectable medicines will be also made available to the patients’ in need.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Johnson & Johnson is matching the individual donations of its employees worldwide, dollar to dollar, up to 1 million USD, to support the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and the CDC Foundation Combat Coronavirus Campaign.
