We increase the investment tenfold. For every single leu spent to attract funds, we obtain 10 lei that we invest in our programs. This year, thanks to the funds obtained by companies redirecting 20% of the income or profit tax, we managed to reach 35,000 children. 50% more than in the previous year.

However, Rural Romania is poor, and the need for intervention is enormous. We are here every day, on the field. We offer children hot meals, remedial classes, tutoring sessions, mentoring, laptops, books, school supplies, but also psychological counseling or career guidance. Basically, we prepare them for life.

And if we don't manage to convince you, maybe Cristina will:

In the past year and a half, I went to work in Germany three times with my family. I would work for a month or two and then return home (between departures, I also worked as a cashier at a supermarket in our village). The first time, I went strawberry picking. There were mornings in which I felt like I couldn't get out of bed. The program tired you the most. You started at 4 AM and finished at 7 PM. You only had an hour break.

I realized that I won't have a better life if I don't go to school. So I saved money in order to go to university. I knew I had potential. Teachers told me. I won Latin language national competitions. For a month I did nothing but study from morning to night. That's how I managed to pass the Baccalaureate exam and enroll into the Faculty of Foreign Languages in Sibiu this year.

I don't know if I would have had the ambition to go university without the “I want in the 9th grade” program. At the first meeting as part of the program, I was the shyest child, but over the course of the monthly activities, I became richer in every way. In my soul, in my mind, in my vocabulary. I learned how to speak in public, express a point of view with arguments and create a resume. It helped me realize that if you want to achieve something in life, your chances will not fall from the sky.

You have to fight to achieve something in life and World Vision prepares you to fulfill your dreams.
