The UK’s Most Famous Gospel Choir to Perform in Romania

The London Community Gospel Choir will perform their first concert in Romania in the Auditorium of the National Art Museum on Friday, 19th September 2014 to celebrate the official opening of Hospice Casa Sperantei’s new in-patient teaching hospice in Bucharest.

Now in their 30th year, they are known as the “UK’s favorite choir” and it is not hard to understand why when you hear their voices soar over rugby pitches, arenas and other venues across the world. Their vocal harmony singing has backed many a pop star too, including Madonna, Sting, Sir Elton John, Diana Ross, Sir Paul McCartney, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. They recorded a well known hymn “Abide with me” as ITV’s FA Cup theme song, which they performed live on the famous Wembley football pitch at the FA cup final in 2009.

„If any evidence is needed of the power and beauty of the human voice, London Community Gospel Choir provides it. It is a collective of the finest voices in the UK, drawn from all ages, colors and backgrounds. Their vibrant performance is guaranteed to uplift you! “, thinks Graham Perolls, President of HOSPICE Casa Sperantei.

The concert will take place on the same day as the official opening of the new Bucharest HOSPICE and the monies from the concert will go towards the project. All the singers have agreed to waive their normal fees in order to support the charity, which began originally as a British-Romanian partnership. The new hospice has 15 beds for adults and 8 beds for children suffering from incurable illnesses. In addition, it has a day centre, out-patient clinic, a teaching centre and offices for the home-care team and support services. All the HOSPICE’s services are free of charge. There will be up to 700 patient admissions and 1,000 people will receive care in their own homes, each year. A further 10 beds will be provided for children with life-limiting illnesses in a new Centre at Adunatii Copaceni.

To help the project, you can buy tickets for the London Community Gospel Choir’s concert in Bucharest, for 70, 100 or 250 lei.
