eLearning application that incorporates multi-touch technology, developed by IT experts from SIVECO Romania and the Ministry of Education through its Management of Externally Financed Projects Unit, received the title as the most innovative project of the year in the world

Bucharest, May 15, 2014 - For the degree of innovation that brings in modern learning process and for the way in which contributes to changing the paradigm of education, the "Optimized Educational Process for Knowledge Society Skills" project implemented by the Ministry of National Education through Management of Externally Financed Projects Unit (MEN - UMPFE), in partnership with SIVECO Romania and National Defense University "Carol I", was awarded with the golden medal at "Most Innovative Product of the Year" category on the global competition Best in Biz Awards 2014 EMEA.

Best in Biz Awards is the only independent business competition and has as jury members of the media and business analysts.

It is for the third consecutive year that the jury of Best in Biz EMEA recognizes excellence of SIVECO projects. In 2012, at the first edition of the competition, the company received the golden medal for "Best Overall Company EMEA," and in 2013, SIVECO Applications 2020 solution received the bronze medal in "Enterprise Product of the Year" category.

It is also the fifth medal awarded to the "Optimized Educational Process for knowledge society skills" project.

The project for collaborative learning in high schools was developed based on multi-touch technology and has been developed entirely with Romanian expertise, know-how and technology, being financed through FSE POSDRU 2007-2013.

When the digital revolution reaches the classroom
The multi-touch systems replace classic monitors and can be used successfully in any field, but especially in education, as demonstrated by this project. The purpose of the solution developed by Romanian computer scientists is to improve collaboration between students and teachers, to engage students in group activities, to motivate them to experiment, making the transition from learning by heart to one based on discovery and knowledge building. Educational content such as "Eco Village - Renewables Energy Resources", "Emotions Articulations", "How to manage a nuclear plant" suggest as teaching methods project -based learning, collaboration among students and transdisciplinarity. Lessons conducted using these tools and interactive content are proving very successful as they combine all the elements that lead to effective learning.

Nearly 100 public and private companies representing all economic sectors from 25 countries competed in the third edition of the Best in Biz Awards. The awards of Best in Biz Awards 2014 EMEA were for a range of categories including Fastest - Growing Company of the Year, Most Innovative Company of the Year, Enterprise Product of the Year, Best New Version of the Year and Most Innovative Product of the Year.

"We are honored to receive the golden medal from a prestigious jury of business analysts and specialized media representatives from around the world. With this new recognition, we proved that a Romanian team is developing projects considered among the best in the world. Let us not forget that this award is as much the work of the project partners: UMPFE, UNAP, trainers, curriculum developers, guides, impact studies and other materials, writers, teachers, researchers, IT specialists from Romania", said Radu Jugureanu, AEL eContent Department Manager, SIVECO Romania.
