30 Women launched the Women’s Network Romania & Bulgaria Hub in February with an event at the GE office in Bucharest. The new Hub is co-chaired by GE Energy Region Executive South East Europe Carmen Neagu and GE Corporate Marketing Development Specialist Romania Adriana Mirela Mircea, both also editorial contributors to the GE for CEE blog.

Ms. Anca Harasim, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania was the special guest at the event. She shared her personal experiences on how she managed to maintain the right balance between her successful career and a fulfilled family life. The other speaker of the session was GE Corporate Communications & Public Affairs Manager for CEE Eszter Szabo, who is also leading the GE Women’s Network in the East Central Region. She shared her experience in building up a personal brand in the business world. She also stressed that your success is built on three factors: your performance, your image and your exposure, the latter meaning who knows about you.

GE’s Women’s Network includes more than 150 Hubs distributed over 45 countries around the world. The extended platform was created in 1997 as an equal opportunity initiative that fosters the career development of talented women and also drives a cultural change in the company. We are sure that the attendees of the launch were reassured that the company is a meritocracy where people are promoted based on their performances, but it also helps those who need an extra hand to get to their full potential through this network.
