"Flights in mirror" – painting and sculpture art exhibition at the InterContinental Bucharest

InterContinental Bucharest and Renaissance Art Gallery continue the series of art exhibitions to promote Romanian talents, at the Intermezzo Lobby Lounge, in the hotel lobby.

Starting 14th November, the talented Victor Andrei Ionescu and Darius Hulea will exhibit 'Flights in mirror', a collection of the six paintings and two metal sculptures that approach the theme flight, dreams, childhood games and fairytales.

‘‘In the sculptures of Darius Hulea, the oversized wings and hands that playfully are interweaving to express, despite the heavy material from which they are created, a fragile structure that inspire the nature of the soul.’’ says Oana Visoiu, the art exhibition curator and the owner of Renaissance Art Gallery.

The special guests for the opening event are the actor Ioan Andrei Ionescu, the brother of the painter and the guitarist Kirk McDavitt, teacher at the American School in Bucharest, who wrote a song especially for this exhibition, inspired by the theme of the flight.  

Victor Andrei-Ionescu is a visual artist with various interests in the creative area, from oil painting, engraving, as well as animation and StreetArt, signing “Jabra22”. He participated at the StreetArt festivals SISAF 2017 Sibiu, 2018 Iasi, "Arta la rece" project, Animest and Next festivals with "The little dark" (2011). The art exhibition From the darkness back to the light’’ presented in March 2019 by Renaissance Art Gallery the  show was accepted  on the gallery’s page of the International ART website Artsy.net.

Darius Hulea, is a young artist from Alba Iulia, member of the Romanian Artists Union (UAP). In 2013 he won the prize „Grigore Bradea”, a distinction given only to the most talented Romanian sculptors.

One of his famous collections of sculptures presents the portraits and silhouettes of the great personalities of Romania. "I hope people understand that all I do is to draw in the lasting material of the past. This is how I can explore and combine mystical, Renaissance and contemporary thinking by finding three-dimensional examples that best describe our past“ the artist said in an interview.

Art lovers can admire and purchase the paintings and sculptures signed by Victor Andrei Ionescu and Darius Hulea from 14th of November 2019 till to 31st January 2020.
