Dentons (formerly Salans) was recognized as “Legal Firm of The Year” for the SEE region during the 8th Annual EuropaProperty SEE Real Estate Awards Gala & Forum on 16 May in Bucharest. The award acknowledges the region’s most outstanding and accomplished real estate projects and professionals in 2012.

“We are happy to have brought a significant contribution to the market and to receive recognition from our clients and peers, despite a generally difficult year for the real estate market. We especially thank our clients, who honor us with their trust and confidence, and who continue to believe in the region’s opportunities”, said Dentons Partner Christopher Berlew.
The projects for which Dentons was recognized include advising worldwide leader in automotive safety products Autoliv on the developing of two new production sites in Transylvania on 75,000 sqm; advising GDF Suez Energy on the development of its first wind farm in Romania as well as advising Lufkin Industries in leasing prime office space to house its new Eastern Hemisphere regional hub and country headquarters.

Dentons won the Law Firm of The Year Award for the fourth time, following previous wins in 2006, 2010 and 2011. In recognition of her contribution and involvement to the real estate market, Laura Tiuca, Local Partner and Co-Head of the Bucharest Real Estate Group and Head of Bucharest Hospitality Practice, was among the finalists for the Professional of the Year distinction, the only woman so recognized.
She co-heads the Bucharest real estate team together with Local Partner Bogdan Papandopol, a very appreciated litigator and renowned specialist in title investigation and restitution claims.
This year Dentons also provided strong support to a charity event organized as part of the EuropaProperty Gala for Hospice House of Hope, one of the most active charity organizations in Romania.

Dentons’ Bucharest real estate team has been involved in most of the country’s cornerstone projects over the past decade advising clients from various industries from automotive and retail to green energy and tourism and leisure.
The team is part of the firm's Global Real Estate Group of more than 500 lawyers worldwide. Clients in Romania include AFI Europe, Autoliv, Compania Hoteliera Intercontinental, Echo Investments, GDF SUEZ, Heitman International, Hilton, Immofinanz, Marriott, Lufkin Industries and OMV Petrom.
