The Annual Congress of the National Association of Credit Management took place between 8-11 June in Orlando, Florida and welcomed over 500 representatives of the financial sector, banks and international credit institutions, financial directors of multinational companies and financial and legal advisers.
Christian Bogaru, Managing Partner of Hammond Bogaru & Associates, was invited to speak at the Panel dedicated to Eastern Europe - The International Credit Perspective on Eastern European markets. Martine Zimmerman (Credit Manager for F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG) and Rick Hays (Assistant Treasurer Viskase Companies Inc) joined Christian Bogaru in addressing the issues raised by the moderator and audience. The discussions focused on presenting instruments of financing in the CEE as understood in the present political, economic and social context.
Christian Bogaru presented the legal framework regulating the international commercial activities in the region, both inside the EU and in dealing with non-member states and particularities of entering the eastern markets, especially from the perspective of American companies.
The political situation in Ukraine and potential impacts on the way business is made in the region, differences in managing credit risk and the main obstacles that companies need to be aware of when dealing with import-export activities in Eastern Europe were amongst the most popular subjects with the American audience present at the Panel. Interest was also high for information regarding the emerging economies of the area and Moldova and Belarus were the markets being identified as having amongst the highest growth potential in the East, presenting interesting opportunities for the American investors present at the Congress.
Christian Bogaru was also recently invited to speak at ICAP’s 5th Credit Risk Management Conference that took place in Bucharest earlier last month, as part of the “Insolvency, the Great Challenge of Managing Credit Risk in Romania” Panel together with representatives of Piraeus Bank, Casa de Insolventa Transilvania and Aon Risk Solutions.
